Sea Salt
Sea salt in Pakistan refers to salt that is obtained from the Arabian Sea, which borders Pakistan’s southern coastline. Pakistan has a coastal line that stretches approximately 1,046 kilometers along the Arabian Sea, providing access to a vast source of sea salt.
Sea salt is primarily harvested through a process called solar evaporation. Seawater is collected in shallow pools or pans, and as the water evaporates under the sun’s heat, salt crystals are left behind. These crystals are then collected, washed, and further processed to remove impurities before being packaged and sold as sea salt.
Pakistan’s sea salt is known for its high mineral content, including sodium chloride, magnesium, calcium, and potassium, among others. The specific composition of sea salt can vary depending on the location and environmental factors of the seawater.
Sea salt is commonly used in cooking and food preparation, as it adds flavor and enhances the taste of dishes. Sea salt is also utilized in the cosmetics and spa industry for its potential therapeutic and exfoliating properties.
